THE END OF THE UNIVERSE AND THE BIG CRUNCH

As we have explained above, the creation of the Universe began after a huge explosion. Since then, the universe has continued to expand. Scientists say that when the mass of the Universe has reached a sufficient level, this expansion will stop because of gravity, thus causing the Universe to collapse on itself.
It is also believed that this contracting universe will eventually reach a very intense temperature and a high degree of "shrinkage". This theory is known as the Big Crunch. This would lead to the end of all forms of life as we know them. Renata Kallosh and Andrei Linde, physics professors at Stanford University made the following statement on this topic:
The Universe may be condemned to collapse and disappear. All that we see now, and all that is at a greater distance and that we do not see, will collapse and be no more than a point no bigger than a proton. Locally, it will be as if you were inside a black hole ...
The theory of the Big Crunch hypothesizes that the Universe, which began its expansion with the Big Bang, could collapse on itself at an increasing speed.
According to this theory, this collapse of the Universe will continue until the Universe loses all its mass and becomes a single point of infinite density,
We have discovered that the best attempts to describe dark energy, predict that it will become progressively negative, which will make the Universe unstable, then collapse ... Physicists already knew that dark energy could become negative and 'Universe could, in a very distant future fall apart ... But now we find that we are perhaps, not at the beginning but in the middle of the life cycle of our Universe. 4

Thus the scientific hypothesis of the Big Crunch is indicated in the Qur'an: The day when We will bend the sky as we fold the roll of books. Just as We started the first creation, so We will repeat it; it is a promise that is ours and we will fulfill it. (Qur'an, 21: 104)
